Ontario Writers-In-The-Schools:

With the assistance of the Ontario Arts Council, The Writers’ Union of Canada helps fund author visits to Ontario elementary and secondary schools. Debbie is a member of TWUC. If you are an educator at an Ontario elementary or secondary school interested in having Debbie visit and are familiar with TWUC program details, please use Debbie’s Contact Form.

With the deadline for applications in early November, please contact Debbie as soon as possible (if you email instead, please cc: Debbie’s assistant) since Debbie would need to fill in the application by Nov. 7th. Include your school name, street address, city/town/First Nation, province, postal code, contact person, phone, email, classroom grade level, number of students, virtual presentation platform, proposed date of virtual presentation (Debbie can let you know if she is NOT available).

Please note that the fee involved is lower than Debbie’s normal virtual visit rates, but Debbie is happy to support up to six Ontario schools (the TWUC limit) each year through this program. A virtual presentation funded this way will include a 30 minute live virtual presentation presentation that includes a reading, book talk, art demo or interactive art activity, and a Q&A.

If you are inquiring after the deadline or are unable to secure funding, do check out Debbie’s Flipgrid visit page for a lower-priced alternative to Debbie’s live visits.

For all other live visits, please inquire through Debbie’s presenter page on The Author Village website.
