Video Resource For Educators

(Last updated January 30, 2022)

If you’re looking for videos for use with young creators, especially in combination with one of my books, here is a categorized list.

My own YouTube videos

Especially earlier in the pandemic, I’ve been posting art activity videos on my YouTube channel for young creators. You can find some of these in my Activities for Young Creators playlist. Many of these have links to resources in the video notes, including to my free, print-ready resources for educators.

Here’s one example, and here’s the direct link to the free, print-ready handout:

Thanks to Simon & Schuster for giving me and Michael Ian Black permission to do some cover-to-cover read-alouds of our books during the pandemic. Here are their online book reading guidelines (last time I checked, guidelines have been extended through March 31st, 2022).

SIMON KIDS Video Resources

I recommend combining the above with a reading of GURPLE AND PREEN: A BROKEN CRAYON COSMIC ADVENTURE, written by Linda Sue Park and illustrated by me. Don’t have a copy of Gurple & Preen? No worries…here’s a video of Linda Sue Park reading our picture book aloud.

In Part 1 (7 minutes) of my Take A Page videos for Simon Kids, I talk about GURPLE AND PREEN and broken crayon art:

In the following 14-minute video, I show young creators how I find found object materials from outdoors:

My mini book talk about SAM & EVA (3 minutes) on Bibliovideo YouTube channel:

Here’s my video for Bibliovideo about how I got my start as an illustrator of books for young people, how parents and teachers can use my books to engage children, and I also show how I draw the characters from GURPLE AND PREEN:
