At Barnes & Noble in NYC in 2014

You can see any upcoming appearances I'm doing on my Press, Interviews & Appearances page. If you're mainly interested in my virtual visits via Skype and Google Hangouts, here's more info.

I'm available to visit schools, libraries, book clubs, conferences and literary festivals to give presentations about my work. These presentations can be adjusted to suit all ages levels, from kindergarten to adult professional events.

At the Toronto International Book Fair in 2014

Because I don't drive, I usually do many more Skype and Google+ Hangout visits (15-20 min. visits are FREE) than in-person visits through the year. Although I'm flexible in format, my typical classroom virtual visit includes an interactive reading, showing sketches and talking about the process of making a picture book, doing a fun drawing demo and answering a few questions from students.

"I can honestly say that in my 5 years at this school, I have NEVER seen the excitement I saw today!! Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for taking the time to chat with us today. You are WONDERFUL — not only as an illustrator, but as an inspiration to kids (and adults!) everywhere."

- From Jen Sterner at Newport Elementary (Newport, MN), about my virtual visit

Here are a few blog posts, photos and tweets that teachers and librarians have posted about my visits.

Visits within the Greater Toronto Area: See my Honorarium/Fee Schedule. Please note that travel expenses include cab fare.

I offer free 15-20 minute Skype visits to classrooms who have read my books. Longer visits are available for a fee. If you coordinate with your local bookstore for pre-orders, then I'd be happy to send signed bookplates for books ordered this way

For more info and to inquire, please see my Virtual Visit Page.

I had SO MUCH FUN talking to young people during my 2014 NAKED! Book Tour (thank you, Simon & Schuster Children's!) so will also be doing school/library visits beginning with the 2014-2015 academic year. Because I don't drive, I'm giving priority to schools and libraries easily accessible by local transit or who are providing transportation. I can do a maximum of three presentations a day; these can be at different locations in the same area if the host provides transportation.

I can tailor my 30-45 minute presentation to your class age group (kindergarten maximum 30 min). I'll do a reading, discuss how I became a children's book writer and illustrator, talk about how a picture book is written and illustrated, showing photos and sketch progress examples from I'M BORED and NAKED!, offer tips for aspiring children's book writers and illustrators, give a fun interactive drawing demo, do a Q&A.

For older audiences, I can offer more details about my creative process and book project development techniques, tips on breaking into the industry.

If you're interested in having me visit your school during the 2015-2016 school year and would like to find out more about my rates and format, please let me know. Please note that GST/HST and travel expenses are over and above the presentation fee.

I also encourage teachers and librarians to visit my I'M BORED Bonus Page and NAKED! Bonus Page for Teacher's Curriculum Guides, activity sheets, and other extra material related to the book.
