lining up for star trek

6 pm update: I've updated our links section as well as revamping the main page. Please do
let me know if you notice anything amiss, thanks. Hey, I actually ran into people in Filk Haven tonight! Met Rob Milne from Atlanta, and Geoff from Tampa.

Lined up for several hours for the Star Trek movie yesterday morning. Don't worry, I won't say anything about the movie itself until most of you have had a chnace to see it. :-) It was sort of fun, being clustered in front of the theatre with our fold-out lawn chairs (thanks Luisa and Reid) beneath blankets and coffee and spiced apple cider. The manager of the theatre gave us some movie promo material, and we had several interesting chats with passersby. One was the illustrator of a new Betty Grable bio book, and he gave us tips on the best place to sit in the Eglinton theatre (last row in the floor section, slightly to the left since the sound in the theatre is slightly skewed to the right) as well as showing us a laser printout of one of his illustrations. re: sitting tips...the manager of the theatre disagreed, by the way, saying that the best place to sit was seventh row, middle.

FILK CHATS: Several people have written to me saying that the filk chat room is great, but that they never run into anyone. How about we pick a regular meeting time to increase the chances of people running into each other? Unfortunately I can't guarantee that I'll be there since my schedule is pretty crazy, and I try to keep evenings free to spend with Jeff if he's home, but if I'm free and online, I'll be there. Let's agree that

    7-8 pm EST

will be a general "hang out" time in Filk Haven if anyone's free, ok? Still no guarantee that anyone will show up, of course, but at least there's a better chance. I know this is an awkward time for those overseas, but I wasn't sure how to get around that (suggestions welcome).

Hope to run into some of you sometime!
